Timelines in History

This is a collection of timelines generated from research into certain historical events. The usual practice when tracing fragments found in a wide range of sources is to create a database and record the fragment with a date-referenced field.

As the entries accumulate the database displays them in date order, and this often prompts additional research to fill obvious gaps. The database on George Bass, for example, shows a glaring gap of three years during which time the man served on naval vessels that visited the Americas. The fact that Bass became fluent in Spanish at this time hints of a wider exposure that screams for investigation.

Such a gap would never be obvious unles the data had been accumulated and displayed in the format described, and as more obscure references are uncovered it is very easy to insert them without re-writing previous work.

In the process of researching one particular story, others gems come to light, but until enough is assembled it is not really worth offering a time line such as you will see here. Nevertheless, there will be regular additions. Watch these spaces...
