This is an interesting account of life in the environs of the Whangaroa Harbour, which is on the east coast of New Zealand not far north of the Bay of Islands. Gwenyth maps the circumstances and people as they arrive and take up various occupations ranging from ship-building, timber-cutting and farming to more questionable activities with guns and boats. The entire work is embedded in a clear historical framework and includes several genealogies, all of which appear on this web page. |
