Now Westwood's importance has waned and it is merely a service station and rail crossing on a country highway. The cemetery is some distance back from the road, over the railway line and down a muddy, rutted lane that ends in an enormous expanse of long, wind-rippled grass through which rusting iron frames and headstones project. It too is still laid out in the 'family plot' format of yesteryear.
