Tiaro | Pos S 25° 43' 1.67" |
| Tiaro is just south of Maryborough and shares a lot of heritage as immigrant ships from Europe came directly to the area in the 1870's. The Mary River gave access to the interior for mining and timber and supported a large population. The nearby mining towns of Gympie and Kilkivan drew people from many other paerts of the country as well, and as a consequence dairying and farming became important industries. Nowadays dairying has largely died out but various forms of horticulture including vinyards are becoming more important, plus Maryborough draws a significant number of visitors on account of its pioneer background. | ![]() | |
