Takahue

The area considered to be the Far North of New Zealand is that part of the North Island north of the Mangamuka ranges. These are bush-clad, and extend virtually completely from coast to coast. On the northern face, where the main highway finally ceases to wind is Victoria Valley, and just to the east is Oruru and somewhat nearer, Fairburns.

Takahue nestles in a central valley nearby, with bush choked gullies and wonderful rippling streams. The Kiwi and Morepork are still heard there after dark, and the people are quiet, self sufficient and apparently on some other planet previously unknown...
