![]() The families interred here are largely related and reflect a time and life when clearing bush to make tiny farms was deemed a worthwhile endeavour. At that time there were few roads and several small vessels regularly plied between Port Chalmers and the Taieri Mouth. It is also worth pointing out that while the Maori of the day were less numerous they were the ones who knew how to get kai moana to help the new arrivals to simply survive, let alone make a modern living. |
