Stanwell is a small village on the road between Rockhampton and Blackwater, in Queensland. It was once a staging post for pioneers moving from the inland downs to the township of Rockhampton, and is nowadays the location for a power station as well as a point on the coal-carrying railway running from the coalfields down to the coastal town and port of Gladstone, Rockhampton not having any port facilities at all.
The cemetery is set back from the road and is overlooked by old trees that keep it cool and somewhat old-worldly. It is somewhat overgrown, but recent attempts to improve it seem to be working. |  |
