Mt. Morgan	Pos S 23°30.401 E 148°10.471
Mt. Morgan is located in the ranges just south of Rockhampton, where gold was discovered in a sandstone substrate, which was very unusual in that age. Today it is a sleepy collection of old houses perched comfortably above the now overgrown workings, a whistle stop on the main road to the Dawson Valley and Biloela. The cemetery listing shown here is not complete, as the cemetery is vast, full of crumbling old headstones and red gravel. "....Further north at Thangool and in Biloela there was an enclave of Russians living and working in the cotton industry. There are 21 Russian graves at the Biloela Cemetery which are marked with monuments, and one family, the Dmitrieffs, continue to live in the town today. At Mt. Morgan, where copper was being mined in the 1920-30s, there are two Russian graves: Efrosina Bajenoff (1930) and Jack Loginoff (1941). In the larger centres, such as Rockhampton, only two graves were to be found and in Gladstone another nineteen were located. However, I should be noted that some Russians changed their surnames, or anglicised them, to better fit into the local culture. Thus one may never find the resting places of all the original Cossacks."
