Greendale is in mid Canterbury in the South Island of New Zealand, just south of the city of Christchurch. Settlers originally arrived in Lyttelton and for the most part walked over the Port Hills on what they called the Bridle Track to the baby settlement of Christchurch.

The road south developed along the base of the Alps and the tiny modern township of Greendale is located on that route. The cemetery is about two kilometers to the west set in a copse of trees and is maintained by the local Selwyn District Council who also keep on-line records for it.

The Greendale records here post-date the older ones and thus we do not have archived entries to view and you need to go to the active on-line database called MOP ('Myra's Other Place') where we actively update these records.

There is a limited search facility at the login screen but if you choose to log in you will see that we have shipping records relating to the buried people in most cases. Login in as Guest password guest and have a look around! It is completely free!!!
