Gingin is about 70 km north of Perth and has this original cemetery next to the church in town plus the more recent one about 800 m up the road. In general these church burials predate those in the larger cemetery on the hill.

Settlers began arriving at the Swan River Settlement in the late 1820's and quickly developed two settlements up the winding river. The upper river areas were called Middle and Upper Swan, and from there they moved east and north. On the coast the next meaningful river was Moore River, which was fed from the same escarpment as Perth, and since this higher ground had timber reserves and better soil than the coastal sand dunes and lakes the farming communities quickly established themselves at Gingin, Toodyay and Bindoon.

We have now gone to a live on-line database called MOP ('Myra's Other Place') and the records listed below are steadily being copied over. Once a record is there a green tick will show alongside the entry. The MOP database has a lot more than just cemetery records and is worth checking out here where you can log in as Guest password guest.
