The farming communities that became established in these tucked away valleys were isolated and self sufficient in virtually everything, once they had broken in their bush-clad hills. The records in this cemetery, along with the associated Peria, Victoria Valley and Mangonui records provide a clear record of the lives of our pioneer past in Northern NZ.
To find the cemetery is a little tricky; drive down the Fairburn road until you pass the limeworks and continue past Meffin and Fisher-Riley roads by nearly 2 km and a small lane appears abruptly on the right. The cemetery is on the top.
