Physically Collinsville is quite attractive, nestling as it does amongs hills the South Africans would call Koppjies, wooded and with a substantial river running past.
The cemetery is not the original one, which was largely eaten by the coal mine, but is quite extensive, and well kept. Many of the families recorded are part of the local beef cattle tradition, which pre-dated the coal and goes on in strength today.
It should be remembered that Collinsville pioneers mostly came via Port Denison (Bowen) and that many of them went on SW to live and work at Blair Athol, near Clermont.
