David Allan apparently travelled out to Australia with his first wife and family, but she died in 1821.  The record next shows him marrying another lady, also in Edinburgh, so it is assumed that he returned to the land of his birth with his entire family, then re-migrated again later.  It appears that on that same return to Edinburgh his second eldest son acquired a wife and they too returned to NSW.
