1. On a golden background, 2 globes, surrounded and crossed by silver. 2. On a silver background, 1 globe, azure, surrounded and crossed by gold. Design on helm as per No. 2. Colours of surrounding of crest; azure and gold.
It is not exactly known when this crest was first used by our family, but it has been established that Cornelis de Waall (1709-1791) was using it in Vianen, there is an impression of the crest in the archives of the Rekenkamer van Holland (approximately equivalent to Ministry of Finance/Taxes) and in Algemeen Rijksarchief in 's-Gravenhage (Central Government Archives in The Hague). There is also a seal (diameter 4 cm) in Centraal Bureau voor Genealogie in's-Gravenhage (Central Office for Genealogy in The Hague) which was used by Barnardus de Waall (1718-1797) in Ameide. Barnadus was the brother of Cornelis. The fact that both brothers used the same crest could be an indication that they inherited this from their father Gerrit de Wael, who was married in Utrecht in 1708 and died there in 1753.
